End in front of the Finisterra and Solmar Hotels and Terrasol condominiums
on the peninsula's very tip is wide, smooth and wonderful for strolling,
snoozing, sun-bathing and listening to the sound of the surf. Whale watching
and enjoying the scenery are the favorite pastimes.
Lover's Beach, or "Playa de Amor" is tucked away behind Cabo's landmark, "El Arco" at Land's End. It is small and sparkling and is the only place where you can walk from the Sea of Cortez to the Pacific Ocean in a matter of seconds. You can also take a water taxi from the marina, or even take the glass-bottom boat there. Some hike over the rocks from Hotel Solmar.
El Medano is the safest beach and is great for family fun and watersports. All types of equipment can be rented here, jetskis, wind surfers, fishing boats, canoes and diving gear. There are restaurants and beach shops along the beach.
Playa Solmar is an easy walk from downtown Cabo and runs from the rocks of Land's End to El Pedregal. For sunset lovers and romantics, there's no better place to watch the sizzling sunsets and an occasional apprearance of the gray and humpback whales from January to March.
Whale's Head, Cabeza de Ballena, for sport fishing and snorkeling, or just relaxing.
Shipwreck, Playa Barco Varado, Km. 9.5. In 1964 a Japanese freighter found an unfortunate home here. Now fishing, diving, snorkeling, swimming and surfing can be found here.
Widow's Beach, Playa de las Viudas, Km. 11, is great for swimming. Tidepools with interesting marine life make it an underwater explorer's dream.
Santa Maria Bay, Km. 12, is one of the world's most beautiful bays. This is a great place for those in search of the idyllic tropical beach. Vermilion mountains drop into the water at either side of this perfect moon-shaped beach, flanked by rugged rocks. Ideal for swimming, snorkeling and diving. Make a day of it and bring your own picnic lunch.
Chileno Bay is considered one of Cabo's best all-around beaches. It is renowned for excellent swimming, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, waterskiing and surfing. Rocky reefs run parallel to the beach, creating some of the best chances for snorkelers to view tropcial sea life. This is the only beach where you will find restrooms and a cooling palm grove for shade.
Palmilla Bay is famous for its spectacular scenery, good swimming, kayaking, and snorkeling. This is a beautiful, wide, crescent-shaped bay with shade palapas, but no equipment rentals. You can walk the beach and see the well known Palmilla Resort. It is also the launching pad for the Palmilla Fleet, one of the most famous in the world.
Acapulquito, The "Hot" surfing beach. If it's too rough for your tastes, don't worry...people-watching makes up for it.
Costa Azul Beach is a favorite with local surfers, with competitions held each August. Swim with caution and watch our for surfers! San José del Cabo's fishing fleet is based here and at daybreak it's a sight worth seeing as the armada chases the newborn sun.
Hotel Beach is a mile from historic downtown and is San José's main beach. It is lined with resort hotels and is excellent for jogging, walking, beach volleyball and surf fishing. It is definitely not for swimming or watersports.
